Frequently Asked Questions

Women with symptoms of vaginal atrophy (vaginal burning, itching, dryness, discharge, pain with sex) and symptoms of vulvar atrophy (outer itching, burning and thinning).

Women with bladder symptoms including frequency (urinating more frequently), nocturia (getting up during the night to urinate), urgency (sensation of needing to get to the washroom quickly or you may not make it) and incontinence (loss of urine with sneezing, coughing, laughing or with activity such as jumping or running).

You can count on being at the office for about 1 hour. This involves the time to check-in and be placed in one of the treatment rooms, time to go over your symptom questionnaire (completed at each treatment visit), time to change, time for the EMLA cream to be applied and take effect, and for the actual treatment. The actual treatment time is relatively short, typically lasting 5 minutes or under, but the preparation time takes longer.

Patients can return to normal activities but should refrain from sexual activity for 2-3 days. I will work with you to determine a post-procedure regimen that is right for you.

Cost is dependent on treatment required. Please contact my office for additional information.

No procedural codes have been established, this is a cash pay procedure paid directly to your provider.

MonaLisa Touch uses fractional laser technology to ablate small micro-columns of tissue. This leaves an ecosystem of healthy unaffected tissue to support rapid healing.

The laser is light therapy. Tiny, focused, columns of light go through the vaginal surface to a depth of a few millimetres. This creates multiple pockets of damage. Your body acts to repair these little pockets of damage and in doing so new blood supply occurs and new collagen and elastin are deposited. This restores health to the vaginal lining and allows the skin to stretch easily, as opposed to microscopic tearing (which is what is happening for you now and why you are experiencing the burning and pain).

Laser sessions are conveniently performed right here in our office during a routine outpatient appointment.

Everyone is unique and our skin ages pre and post-procedure. Please call my office to discuss your needs and expectations.
